Hyvän Olon Superfood Chia (organic)

Chia contains an excellent combination of fatty acids. In terms of plant-derived Omega-3 fatty acids, the proportions in Chia are extremely high. Soaking the seeds yields a good alternative to flax seeds. The seeds absorb a nine-fold amount of liquid in only 10 minutes, with no need to soak them overnight. The nutritional value of Chia seeds is also higher than that of flax seeds.
Chia seeds are untreated whole seeds with their shells. They have almost no taste, which is why it is easy to add them to both savoury and sweet foods. Chia seeds can be eaten as they are, but they are usually added to drinks and foods.

Maca has an abundance of proteins, vitamins and minerals. It is especially high in calcium, iron and vitamin C. Maca has as many as 18 amino acids and it also contains phytochemicals. It is no surprise that Maca is currently one of the most popular superfoods. The protein content of Maca is 11% and the proportion of high-quality carbohydrates is 70%. Maca contains lots of high-quality fibre, tannins, vitamins C, B1, B2, B3 and B6, phytosterols, carotenes, fatty acids and all the amino acids the body needs, as well as various minerals and other trace nutrients. Due to its nutritional value and phytotherapeutic ingredients Maca supports physical and mental wellbeing when used regularly.
Because Maca has a sweet taste, it can be mixed as a morning drink directly in a glass of water or juice. It can be added to muesli, porridge, smoothies, processed sour milk and yoghurt, and sprinkled on fruit salads and other desserts according to taste.

Spirulina is an excellent source of antioxidants, and has thus been found to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects. The vitamin B12 and iron in Spirulina promote the formation of red blood cells in the blood, improve immunity and reduce fatigue and exhaustion. In addition, B12 improves the normal function of the nervous system, normal psychological functions and the metabolism of homocysteine. The vitamin B2 in Spirulina is beneficial to sight, the skin and the mucous membranes, and protects from the oxidative stress caused by oxygen. In addition, Spirulina is also regarded as the best source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) after breast milk. As a nutrient Spirulina is easily digested and absorbed. The strong dark green color of Spirulina is a pigment called phycocyanin.

Hyvän Olon Superfood “Arriba” Raw Cocoa (organic)

Original raw cocoa is one of the world’s most nutritive foods and a true superfood. Cocoa contains over 1200 active ingredients and 10% of the weight of cocoa consists of antioxidants; this is more than the percentages of bilberry, goji, red wine and pomegranate put together. In addition, raw cocoa contains important trace elements such as magnesium, iron, manganese, chromium, sulphur, copper and zinc. There are many different species of cocoa; the most common are Crillo, Forastero and Trinitario, but Hyvän Olon Raw Cocoa is made from the species Ecuadorian Arriba Nacional, which is one of the world’s most highly valued organic cocoas.
Although Raw Cocoa is more bitter than ordinary cocoa, it is perfectly suited to making all kinds of desserts and for baking, just like ordinary cocoa. Hyvän Olon Extra Virgin coconut oil is a high-quality virgin coconut oil, which is manufactured by cold-pressing from fresh coconuts. In contrast to other edible oils almost 90% of the fatty acids in coconut oil are saturated, which makes it solid and it keeps well without becoming rancid below 25 degrees. Because it contains a lot of saturated acids, many nutrition experts still consider it to be as unhealthy as any hard animal fat. However, in contrast to animal fats, the majority of the seven saturated acids found in coconut oil are actually of medium length, and almost half of them are lauric acid. The body transforms lauric acid to monolaurin, which is abundant only in breast milk!

Hemp protein powder is made from hulled hemp seeds, which are first mechanically defatted and only then ground to powder. It is therefore ideal in having a low fat content, and being rich in protein. Hemp seed powder is an excellent source for obtaining adequate vegetable protein. Its protein content is 50% and it contains all the essential amino acids. As a nutrient, hemp protein is highly digestible, and it is not known to cause allergies. Hyvän Olon Chlorella is cultivated on the Japanese island of Okinawa in freshwater pools, which do not contain sea water.
